Dr Kerry Easson

Dr Kerry Easson started at Riverside Veterinary Clinic in December 2001 after she studied at Onderstepoort from 1997. This was the realization of a dream to become a vet which started when she was 5 years old. She had a childhood filled with all sorts of critters ranging from mice to a horse. Dr Easson is known by many for her knowledge and experience in exotic animals, these include birds, rabbits, rats, reptiles, monkeys and hedgehogs to name a few. Kerry has a big heart and is always willing to help an animal in need. She has 3 spoilt dogs that you will notice when you visit the clinic, Ewa the poodle, who enjoys accompanying her every day to work and participates in the greeting of all the dogs that walk through the door and Miley and Picola which are both chihuahuas that she adopted from rescue organisations.  At home there is a menagerie of lizards, spiders, guinea pigs, doves, pigeons, chickens and Bartholomew the turkey. In her spare time she enjoys exercising, reading, gardening, walking the dogs and spending time with friends and family.

Dee Bennion

Being a client of Riverside Vet for many years, Dee's passion for birds, reptiles or anything out of the ordinary soon won her over in assisting us in her spare time. 20 years later she is still the familiar face you will see in the clinic on alternative Saturdays assisting the vet on duty and giving advice to clients on their pets. Dee's love for helping animals does not stop at Riverside Vet and on occasion she is called on to help in rehabilitating wildlife. Dee has a passion for photography and has won a number of awards for her photographs. She thoroughly enjoys spending her time out in the open, gardening, hiking and anything that enables her to appreciate wildlife and the outdoors.

Edward Nxumalo

Edward took over from his brother Eugene who many of you may have met in the past.

Ed is a highly experienced and knowledgeable animal handler who has been in the veterinary profession for 16 years. He worked at Riverside Vet for a number of years before moving to a Specialist Veterinary Hospital in 2011, he is now, in his own words, “back home!”. Ed's passion lies in working with dogs, but he enjoys all animals, and even willingly handles our snake patients, especially the “big ones!”

You'll meet Ed in reception or in consultation lending a helping hand where ever he is needed. Ed is also focused on keeping the clinic clean and tidy and meeting the high standards of hygiene and sterility that are vital in a veterinary practice. He considers team spirit and team work very important and always keeps us smiling with his jokes and wonderful sense of humour. In his own words, he would like to see more african kids learning about animals and their care.

In his spare time, Ed is a soccer fanatic and enjoys listening to music.

Practice Cats

Blue and Amelia

Blue (grey cat) and Amelia (calico cat) have been a part of Riverside Veterinary Clinic since 2012. They both came to us as stray cats. In 2013 Blue was unfortunately run over in our driveway, but after extensive surgery and cage rest he made it through and is still with us, strong as ever. In their spare time Blue enjoys sleeping on our printer or rubbing up against clients at the front desk. Ameila loves sitting on clients laps while they are waiting in reception and will often be found "washing" their arm in delight.
